Pre-k Program Rules & Procedures
1. All children must be screened for eligibility.
2. New students must provide a current physical, immunizations, official birth certificate, proof of residency, proof of income, and an enrollment packet.
3. Each child should bring a regular-sized book bag and a complete change of clothes to school each day.
4. A home visit may be completed by pre-k staff if the family chooses to welcome one.
5. A minimum of two phone numbers must be provided in case of emergency.
6. Enrollment in the program must be for three, four, or five days a week with regular attendance in order for your child to receive the full benefit from the program. Please call 658-9395 if your child will be absent. This helps with planning activities, snack, and more. A written reason for absence is necessary after five continuous days of absence. If more than 20% of a child’s monthly enrollment are missed without a valid reason, your child may be dropped from the program in order to offer the spot to another child on the waiting list.
7. Children will only be allowed to leave the room with parents or persons who have been given permission in writing in advance . Designated persons will be asked to provide a photo ID if they are not known by the pre-k staff.
8. Vienna pre-k and Head Start pre-k will both follow the Vienna Elementary School district’s calendar. Pre-k will always begin half an hour later than VGS and dismiss half an hour earlier in order to alleviate traffic in the parking lot and keep our little ones safe.
9. Any child who has a fever over 100, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash, or any contagious condition should not be sent to school. If your child has had any of the above within 12 hours before a school day, do not send your child to school.
